The club's AGM was held on the 28th of April 2024 in the Age UK building and 48 members attended. The Chairman asked members for a minute of silence for our lost friend and family, after which he told everyone that the club was recovering well after the COVID-19 problems and that the club had a great show at Blackpool where Chris Blaylock won two awards for Best Pleasure craft and Best in Show. Well done Chris. The treasurer announced that the club was in a good financial state and as such we would not be changing the membership fees, which will remain at £15.00 for existing members if paid before the end of May 2024 and £20 for new members. It was time for the Election of two officers The Chairman and the Treasurer, as there were no nominations other than the two already holding the positions there was no need to vote and they retained their posts. Due to the Loss of Graham Sleight Club Secretary Ken Mears kindly took up the post which is in place till next year, when it is due for election.
The committee is pleased to announce that a sub-committee has been selected to represent certain areas of our club’s activities and provide general support to the committee.
Steve Kelly will organise home events at the Lido in Bury and will also provide boiler testing for any steam-powered models. Steve needs no introduction to most members as he’s been active in the Bury club for many years.
Graham Ingham, know to most as ‘Goo’, also needs no introduction. Goo already plays a key role, opening up the clubhouse on Sundays and ensuring the launch area is clean and tidy. Goo will organise events away from our home pond, ie Blackpool Model Boat Show.
Both guys will provide general back to the committee thereby covering for holidays etc.
Welcome aboard guys!
It was agreed that Night School would recommence on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of each month at 7pm in the clubhouse, please advise Mike Bondi of the subjects you would like covered on these evenings.
